AT&T is looking for a highly creative and analytical AI Interaction Designer / Prompt Analyst to help shape the future of human-AI interaction. In this role, you will be responsible for crafting natural language prompts, designing conversational flows, and optimizing user interactions with generative AI systems. Your work will directly influence how users experience and trust AI across a variety of applications—from productivity tools to customer support and decision-making systems. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, engineers, data scientists, and UX researchers to ensure our AI behaves in ways that are helpful, safe, and aligned with user expectations. This is a unique opportunity to define best practices in a rapidly evolving field and contribute to the design of intelligent systems that feel intuitive, human-centered, and impactful.
What you’ll do:
Design, test, and refine prompts for large language models (LLMs) to ensure accurate, relevant, and context-aware outputs.
Develop reusable prompt templates and frameworks for different use cases and personas.
Conduct prompt tuning and chaining to improve multi-turn interactions and task completion.
Create and document conversational flows, fallback strategies, and tone-of-voice guidelines.
Collaborate with UX designers to prototype and test AI-driven experiences.
Ensure consistency, clarity, and inclusivity in AI-generated content.
Analyze AI outputs for quality, coherence, bias, and alignment with user intent.
Use qualitative and quantitative methods (e.g., A/B testing, user feedback, telemetry) to evaluate prompt performance.
Identify failure modes and edge cases and propose mitigation strategies.
Work with product and engineering teams to define AI behavior and user expectations.
Partner with data scientists to fine-tune models and improve prompt-response alignment.
Contribute to the development of internal tools and workflows for prompt experimentation and versioning.
Stay up to date with the latest advancements in generative AI, prompt engineering, and human-AI interaction.
Explore emerging techniques such as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), few-shot learning, and agentic workflows.
Share insights and best practices across teams to elevate the quality of AI experiences.
Familiarity with platforms like OpenAI, Anthropic, Cohere, or similar.
Experience with tools such as Figma, Notion, or conversational design platforms.
Background in linguistics, psychology, HCI, or cognitive science.
Basic scripting or programming skills (e.g., Python, JSON, YAML).
Experience working in agile, cross-functional teams.
What you’ll need:
3+ years of experience in UX writing, interaction design, computational linguistics, or a related field.
Deep understanding of LLMs and prompt engineering principles.
Experience designing conversational interfaces, chatbots, or voice assistants.
Strong writing and editing skills with a focus on clarity, tone, and user intent.
Analytical mindset with experience interpreting user behavior and model performance.

Our AI Interaction Designer/Prompt Analyst earn between $106,100.00-$159,100.00 USD Annual. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
