In this role, you will work closely with the Chief Engineer and multidisciplinary engineering teams to define and maintain end-to-end network architecture, engineering standards, and technology roadmaps across WAN, LAN, transport, cloud connectivity, and software-defined networking environments. You will help ensure network solutions are secure, resilient, scalable, interoperable, and capable of supporting mission-critical operational requirements.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
· Define and evolve end-to-end network architectures, engineering standards, and technology roadmaps across WAN, LAN, transport, cloud, and software-defined networking environments.
· Architect and integrate SD-WAN solutions, including overlays, underlays, routing, segmentation, policy, orchestration, and secure connectivity.
· Translate customer, operational, and technical requirements into network architecture, engineering requirements, interface definitions, and implementation strategies.
· Support the Chief Engineer in establishing network technical direction, engineering standards, architectural principles, and design approaches.
· Develop standardized network designs, configurations, engineering patterns, and implementation approaches while accommodating site-specific operational and technical requirements.
· Engineer highly available and resilient network solutions addressing redundancy, diversity, failover, performance, capacity, scalability, and recoverability.
· Evaluate network architecture alternatives and conduct technical trade studies involving performance, resiliency, security, interoperability, cost, and lifecycle considerations.
· Develop network migration and transition strategies that minimize operational risk and support modernization of existing infrastructure.
· Provide technical oversight through high-level and detailed design, integration, test, implementation, migration, and transition to operations.
· Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to incorporate network security, segmentation, access control, encryption, and applicable security requirements into solution designs.
· Partner with systems, cloud, transport, infrastructure, operations, and test engineering teams to ensure end-to-end interoperability and design integrity.
· Establish network capacity and performance requirements and support performance analysis, optimization, and troubleshooting.
· Review network designs, configurations, engineering documentation, interface definitions, test procedures, and vendor/OEM solutions for technical completeness and architectural alignment.
· Provide senior technical expertise during network implementation, troubleshooting, performance degradation, and resolution of complex incidents and engineering issues.
· Evaluate emerging networking technologies, product lifecycle considerations, capacity demands, and technology obsolescence to support long-term network modernization.
· Partner with test and evaluation teams to ensure all technical solutions are fully tested, verified, and validated against applicable system, design, performance, interface, security, and operational requirements prior to deployment or operational acceptance.
· Support execution of all applicable Contractor Master Test Plan (CMTP)activities, including test planning, readiness reviews, requirements traceability, test procedure development, defect resolution, regression testing, results analysis, documentation, and closure of technical test findings.
