Overall Purpose: Lead asset recovery vendor management by developing and executing strategies that maximize financial return, improve operational performance, monetize a portfolio of billions of dollars in assets, and support responsible disposition of surplus and obsolete assets. Manage vendor relationships, sourcing strategies, contract performance, scrap and commodity sales, and data-driven reporting while ensuring compliance, transparency, and alignment with organizational objectives. This role serves as the strategic leader and thought partner within the team, setting direction, shaping long-term strategy, influencing executive decisions, and communicating clearly across all levels of leadership to advance organizational priorities.

Key Roles and Responsibilities: Typical tasks may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Develop Asset Recovery Strategy: Create and implement enterprise asset recovery strategies for surplus, obsolete, returned, and decommissioned materials, balancing financial value, operational requirements, risk, sustainability, and regulatory obligations.
• Lead Scrap and Commodity Sales: Manage competitive sales processes, bids, auctions, and contract negotiations for scrap metals, electronics, batteries, cable, and other recoverable materials. Evaluate market indices, pricing formulas, logistics costs, processing charges, recovery rates, and vendor capacity to maximize net proceeds.
• Manage Vendor Performance and Relationships: Establish performance standards and governance routines for asset recovery, recycling, logistics, and processing vendors. Monitor contractual commitments, service levels, quality, settlement accuracy, compliance, and corrective actions.
• Drive Data Analytics and Reporting: Develop dashboards, scorecards, forecasting models, and executive reports that measure volumes, revenue, reuse value, recovery yields, transportation costs, cycle time, compliance, and vendor performance. Translate complex data into actionable insights and recommendations.
• Optimize Financial and Operational Results: Analyze disposition channels, regional volumes, commodity trends, transportation options, and processing outcomes to identify opportunities that increase recovery value, reduce cost, and improve asset velocity.
• Ensure Accurate Settlements and Controls: Validate weights, assays, recovery percentages, deductions, pricing, invoices, and vendor settlements. Maintain appropriate controls, documentation, audit readiness, and issue-resolution processes.
• Lead Sourcing and Contract Strategy: Partner with Sourcing, Legal, Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, Environmental Health and Safety, and other stakeholders to develop requirements, conduct RFPs, negotiate commercial terms, and align contracts with business objectives.
• Advance Process Improvement and Automation: Standardize workflows and use analytics, automation, and digital tools to improve data quality, reporting efficiency, forecasting, controls, and decision-making.
• Manage Risk, Compliance, and Sustainability: Confirm vendors meet applicable environmental, safety, data-security, chain-of-custody, and responsible-recycling requirements. Identify and mitigate financial, operational, reputational, and compliance risks.
• Provide Strategic Leadership: Present recommendations to senior leadership, lead complex cross-functional initiatives, resolve escalated issues, mentor team members, and establish long-term plans for asset recovery and vendor management programs.

Job Contribution: An experienced professional and recognized subject matter expert who applies broad business, commercial, operational, and analytical knowledge to resolve complex asset recovery and vendor management challenges. Leads strategic programs with significant financial and operational impact, influences executive decisions through data-driven recommendations, negotiates with external vendors, and implements long-term strategies that improve value recovery, compliance, and performance. Mentors less experienced staff and frequently collaborates with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) desired. 5+ years of related experience. Certification is required in some areas.

Preferred Capabilities:

• Experience with scrap, recycling, remarketing, reverse logistics, or asset disposition programs.
• Knowledge of commodity markets, sales contracts, pricing indices, settlements, transportation economics, and vendor negotiations.
• Advanced analytical and reporting skills using tools such as Excel, Power BI, SQL, Python, Snowflake, Databricks, or comparable platforms.
• Ability to develop executive-level insights, financial models, performance dashboards, and continuous-improvement recommendations.
• Strong communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and cross-functional leadership skills.
