Job Title: Sr Specialist Database Administration

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and support mission-critical Oracle database environments across Production, Disaster Recovery, and Non-Production platforms. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Oracle Database Administration, Performance Tuning, High Availability, Backup & Recovery, Security Compliance, and Database Modernization initiatives. Having experience in PostgreSQL and Snowflake will be added advantage.

The role requires hands-on experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, GoldenGate, RMAN, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and cloud-based database deployments. The candidate will work closely with application, infrastructure, security, and development teams to ensure database reliability, scalability, performance, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration

  • Install, configure, upgrade, patch, and maintain Oracle databases (11g/12c/19c/23ai).
  • Manage Oracle RAC, ASM, CDB/PDB, and Enterprise Database environments.
  • Perform database provisioning, cloning, refreshes, migrations, and capacity planning.
  • Ensure 24x7 database availability and production support.

Performance & Optimization

  • Monitor and optimize database performance using:
    • AWR
    • ASH
    • ADDM
    • SQL Tuning Advisor
    • SQL Profiles
  • Analyze execution plans and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks.
  • Optimize SQL, PL/SQL, indexes, partitioning, and storage structures.

High Availability & Disaster Recovery

  • Administer Oracle Data Guard environments.
  • Manage Oracle GoldenGate replication and troubleshoot replication issues.
  • Execute disaster recovery exercises and validate recovery procedures.
  • Maintain defined RTO and RPO objectives.

Backup & Recovery

  • Design and manage RMAN backup and recovery strategies.
  • Perform database recovery testing and restore validations.
  • Ensure backup compliance and retention standards.

Security & Compliance

  • Implement Oracle database security best practices.
  • Support vulnerability remediation and database patching activities.
  • Manage database access controls, encryption, password policies, and auditing.
  • Support SOX, PCI, RIM, CCDR, and other compliance requirements.

Automation & DevOps

  • Develop automation scripts using Shell, Python, SQL, and PL/SQL.
  • Support CI/CD database deployments and release activities.
  • Automate monitoring, reporting, health checks, and maintenance tasks.
  • Partner with DevOps teams for infrastructure and deployment automation.

Production Support

  • Participate in on-call support rotation.
  • Troubleshoot critical production incidents and perform root cause analysis.
  • Support major releases, migrations, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
