Job Description:

The Environmental Site Manager (ESM) is responsible for supporting, managing, and auditing environmental compliance at AT&T facilities. ESMs conduct comprehensive site audits, coordinate with regulatory inspectors, and ensure adherence to environmental, health, and safety standards in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

What You’ll Do:

  • Conduct thorough Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) at AT&T facilities to verify compliance with all applicable environmental regulations and internal policies.

  • Act as the main point of contact and escort for regulatory agency inspectors, including those from California agencies, during on-site inspections and audits.

  • Implement, monitor, and enforce compliance with government regulations such as CUPA, OSHA, EPA, DOT, and AT&T’s corporate environmental standards.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and ensure facility practices align with evolving laws and policies.

  • Proactively identify potential environmental compliance risks at assigned facilities.

  • Recommend, assign, and track corrective actions to address identified issues and ensure timely resolution.

  • Apply company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices to resolve environmental, health, and safety challenges.

  • Collaborate with facility teams to implement preventative measures and drive continuous improvement in compliance and risk management.

  • Prepare and maintain documentation and records in accordance with regulatory and company standards.

  • Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate actions.

  • Meet and escort California Agency Inspectors when necessary.

What You’ll Need

  • In-depth understanding of federal, state, and local Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) regulations.

  • Exceptional communication abilities, including experience delivering effective training.

  • Skilled in conducting comprehensive environmental assessments and providing actionable recommendations for corrective measures.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and EH&S management software platforms.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline is preferred.

  • 2+ years of related experience.

  • Background in environmental compliance, site assessments, or experience in EH&S positions.

  • Familiarity with relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations, including CUPA, OSHA, EPA, and DOT standards.

  • Certifications: Preferred candidates will hold relevant environmental certifications such as Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM), Registered Environmental Manager (REM), HAZWOPER, or similar.

Additional Information

  • Performs on-site work at various AT&T facilities and office locations.

  • Collaborates regularly with regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders. 

  • Position may involve travel within designated regions as needed.

  • May be expected to respond to environmental incidents or emergencies as they arise.

  • Ongoing training and professional development may be necessary to stay current with evolving regulatory requirements.

  • A valid driver’s license is required, and candidates must successfully pass a motor vehicle records check.

Workplace environment:  Responsibilities may include activities related to fuel tanks, emergency and stand-by generators, boilers, hazardous waste and materials, batteries, manholes and vaults, water wells, construction projects, water discharge, and air emissions, among others.  This role requires the ability to climb stairs and ladders, and to navigate various types of terrain while conducting field audits.  This position involves frequent travel throughout the assigned region, utilizing an AT&T company vehicle to visit and support multiple AT&T facilities. The role typically requires spending about 70% of the work week in the field and 30% in the office.

Our Environmental Site Manager earn between $96,000 to $144,000 USD Annual. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
